DOE ordered General Restaurant Equipment Co. to pay a $16,000 civil penalty after finding General Restaurant Equipment had failed to certify that certain models of walk-in cooler and freezer components comply with the applicable energy conservation standards.  The Order adopted a Compromise Agreement, which reflected settlement terms between DOE and General Restaurant Equipment.

DOE issued a Notice of Proposed Civil Penalty on June 10, 2016, alleging that General Restaurant Equipment had failed to submit reports certifying that its products have been tested and meet the applicable energy conservation standards.  The civil penalty notice advised the company of the potential penalties and DOE's administrative process, including the company's right to a hearing.
