The Department of Energy today launched a new Fraud Reporting web page to make it easier for members of the public to report suspected incidents of fraud, waste, and abuse, and to enable the Department to keep the public better informed about potential fraud involving DOE programs.  DOE is strongly committed to effective program oversight and takes seriously any allegations of potential fraud, waste, or abuse.

When a report is received, Departmental elements (and, where necessary, law enforcement) will examine the allegations and refer the matter for action, including – where appropriate – the institution of criminal proceedings.  In addition, as the Department learns of existing scams, it will post fraud alerts on the new web page, which also includes tips to avoid becoming a victim of fraud and links to resources that may be helpful to members of the public who fear they have been victims of fraud.

The new Fraud Reporting page is available here.
