Interested in energy efficiency and renewable energy but a little confused by all the terms? Wondering how the technologies actually work? Maybe you're doing some research or working on a paper and just need a little background info.
EERE's new Energy Basics site is the place for you. There you can learn things like how a wind turbine works and all about the different types of fuel cells. If you just need a quick definition of a term you've heard, check out the glossary.
Energy Basics is not meant to replace Energy Savers or any of the program sites throughout the Office of Energy Efficiency and Renewable Energy. Depending on what you're looking for, here's how you should use these sites:
- Visit Energy Basics if you want a basic overview of energy efficiency and renewable energy technologies
- Visit Energy Savers if you want to learn how to save money and energy at home
- Visit the EERE Web site and program sites if you're interested in the latest research and development activities at EERE.
Like most Web sites, Energy Basics is a work in progress. We will continue to improve the site and add more information. For now, take a look and let us know what you think! How can we improve the site so it's more useful for you?
