It's finally beginning to warm up again! Of course, given that I live in Colorado, where it can snow through May, I probably just jinxed myself. But no matter! It's spring, it's beautiful out, and that means it's time to yet again break out the spring version of Stay Cool, Save Money!
And, given that Earth Day's coming up in a couple of days, you might find a few things you can do if you choose to celebrate Earth Day this year. Why not check out the 10 Tips to Stay Cool and Save Money (PDF 127 KB)? Or conduct your own home energy assessment? Or you can go for some low- and no-cost options to save energy, too.
Of course, this would be a perfect time for an anecdote about what I'll be doing to save energy this Earth Day, but unfortunately I live in an apartment, and my plans are limited to "turning down the thermostat and opening up the windows to cool the house."
(That said, I'm also hoping to start an herb garden on my deck so I can save some money during my neigh-constant baking sprees, but that only counts as "saving energy" if you think about the great global market and the cost to transport food to your table. So it's not quite in the same vein as what we normally do here at Energy Savers.)
But whatever you do this Earth Day—be it a home energy assessment or just remembering that, well, it's Earth Day—hopefully you'll keep these tips in mind, because they're useful no matter what time of year it is.
And if you're doing anything exciting for Earth Day this year, be sure to share it with us!
