During the month of November, Energy Saver presents #EnergyFaceoff! Each week on the blog and social media, two appliances will face off to determine which uses less energy, with the victor declared the most efficient.

What do they win? Well, nothing really.  But in some cases, the face offs will help you choose the most efficient appliance to use. Other showdowns will help you understand the estimated energy use and cost of using certain appliances or electronics throughout the year. You'll even be able to use our calculations to estimate the energy use of other items in your home.

So without further ado, here are the match ups:

Round One: Computer (CPU) vs. Video Game System

Gamers and non-gamers alike will witness the showdown between a computer (CPU) and monitor and a video game system with a LCD television. Which system reigns supreme? You'll have to tune in the week of Nov. 3 to find out.

Round Two: Hair Dryer vs. Upright Vacuum

These appliances are typically used for about an hour each week. Does the larger vacuum suck up electricity, letting the little hair dryer blow away the competition? Or does our hair drying friend dry up your wallet as well as your hair? Join us the week of Nov. 10 to find out!

Round Three: Space Heater vs. Electric Blanket

Winter is on its way, and with it the desire to cocoon yourself in a warm blanket or toasty room, but when you're reaching for the electric blanket what is it costing you? Will that mighty space heater make you sweat when your energy bill arrives? The battle rounds heat up the week of Nov. 17 as we watch the space heater and electric blanket duke it out in the battle of efficiency.

Round Four: Microwave vs. Electric Kettle

Winter means cold weather, and cold weather means hot drinks are essential. Whether you're heating water for tea, coffee, or a cup of cocoa, is a microwave or electric kettle more efficient? In the last battle round we see these two appliances face off in a match so steamy you may have to clear off your glasses. Tune in the week of Nov. 24, as we watch these appliances step into the ring!

Any initial guesses on the winners of each showdown? Join the conversation on social media by using #EnergyFaceoff, or send us an email clicking the "tell us" link at the top of the page. Let's get ready to rumble!
