Leaders of DOE Environmental Management Advisory Group to Meet in Henderson

The Chairs and Vice-Chairs of the U.S. Department of Energy’s (DOE) Environmental Management (EM) Site-Specific Advisory Board (SSAB) will meet in Henderson, NV, April 13-14, at Green Valley Ranch located at 2300 Paseo Verde Parkway. Twice each year representatives from the eight local boards of the EM SSAB meet with DOE-EM officials to discuss common issues and concerns.

The spring meeting will include a tour of the Nevada National Security Site on April 12 and a day and a half business meeting on Wednesday and Thursday, April 13-14. The meetings begin at 8:00 a.m. on both days and are open to the public, with public comment periods scheduled.

The agenda includes DOE-EM presentations by Shirley Olinger, Associate Principal Deputy for Corporate Operations; Joann Luczak, Deputy Assistant Secretary for Program Planning and Budget; Christine Gelles, Director, Office of Disposal Operations; and Paul Dixon and Paul Beam, Office of Groundwater and Soil Remediation.

Chairs of the EM SSAB will present the top issues for their local boards, and common issues will be discussed.

The EM SSAB is a federally chartered community advisory board charged with providing DOE-EM with advice and recommendations on its nuclear waste cleanup and environmental management activities.
