Save the Date! Earth Day’s 45th anniversary is on April 22, 2015. The celebration will showcase interactive, eco-friendly exhibits and activities to raise awareness of environmental issues and encourage sustainability. As in years past, the Office of Environment, Health, Safety and Security is leading the U.S. Department of Energy’s (DOE) Earth Day program at Forrestal and Germantown.
From April 13-22, DOE program and staff offices and Field sites will showcase the best of their green initiatives and technologies. Environmental films and a Green Tips for the Home workshop will also be featured.
On Wednesday, April 22, the Earth Day celebration will move outdoors to the Forrestal West Plaza, from 11:00 a.m. til 2:00 p.m. The program has broadened to include other Federal Agency exhibits and participation from a variety of elementary schools in the area. In addition to DOE program and field office displays, over 20 new commercial organizations will feature green exhibits and interactive displays to provide information on environmental and energy efficiency-related products and services. Additional activities include: Live musical performances, popcorn, electronics recycling area, alternative fuel and transportation vehicles, C&T Farmers Market, children’s activities, environmental photo contest, DOE Bike Advocates, and a BBQ lunch.
