As technologies supported by the Vehicle Technologies Office (VTO) come on to the market, regular drivers will benefit from lower fuel costs and less time spent at the gas station. Through FuelEconomy.gov and the Alternative Fuels Data Center, VTO provides a variety of resources to help drivers choose the most efficient vehicle that meets their needs and get the most out of the vehicle they have now.
FuelEconomy.gov
- The Find and Compare Cars tool allows drivers to search and compare the fuel economy, greenhouse gas emissions, and fuel costs of all light-duty vehicles back to 1984.
- Gas Mileage Tips help people drive more efficiently, helping them save money with their current vehicle.
- My Trip Calculator helps drivers decide which vehicle is the most efficient to drive on a road trip.
- Overviews of hybrid electric, plug-in hybrid, all-electric, flex-fuel, diesel, fuel cell, and other alternative fuel vehicles provide basic information about these technologies.
Alternative Fuels Data Center
- The Alternative Fueling Station Locator maps and provides information on more than 12,000 charging and alternative fuel stations in the United States.
- The Vehicle Cost Calculator allows vehicle buyers to compare up to eight vehicles' lifetime cost of ownership and emissions.
- The Laws and Incentives Database provides information on state and federal incentives relating to alternative fuel and plug-in vehicles, including tax incentives.
