The Vehicle Technologies Office supports work to collect extensive data on light-duty, medium-duty and heavy-duty vehicles through the Advanced Vehicle Testing Activity  (AVTA). Idaho National Laboratory and the National Renewable Energy Laboratory (NREL) test and evaluate medium and heavy-duty fleet vehicles that use hybrid electric, plug-in electric, hydraulic hybrid, and alternative fuel technologies. By comparing these results to conventional vehicles, manufacturers can guide their research and development plans. Looking at data from similar fleets can help fleet managers better understand their options for purchasing and using vehicles.

This database only offers highlights of the latest data. In addition to these reports, the National Renewable Energy Laboratory (NREL) maintains the Fleet DNA database, which has composite operating data for commercial fleets. NREL's and INL's websites also include all past historical reports on medium and heavy-duty fleet testing.
