This project will develop the capability of high-resolution transport imaging in photovoltaic (PV) devices, which is useful for improving polycrystalline thin-film PV materials.

APPROACH

Researchers will develop an innovative dual probe transport imaging technique that combines high-resolution electron-beam excitation with near-field optical microscopy to “see” electronic transport at the level of individual grains and interfaces.

INNOVATION

This project will enable a new analytical technique to investigate carrier transport properties in thin-film photovoltaic devices with high spatial resolution. This new technique will become available to a wide range of university and industry collaborators in support of their efforts for developing better PV devices.
