In October 2009, DOE announced $24.7 million to fund six projects to increase the growth of grid-tied solar photovoltaic systems. Part of the SunShot Systems Integration efforts, the goal of the High Penetration Solar Deployment projects is to accelerate the placement of these systems into existing and newly designed distribution circuits in the electrical grid. The investment is part of $117.6 million in American Recovery and Reinvestment Act funds.

More information about these projects is available on the High Penetration Solar Deployment Projects page at the High Penetration Solar Portal.
