Kevin Craig is the Program Manager for the U.S. Department of Energy Bioenergy Technologies Office’s Conversion Technologies program.

Kevin has over 30 years of experience in various aspects of biomass and coal conversion including gasification, combustion, pyrolysis and bioconversion. Previously, he supervised the biomass Project Management Center in EERE which was responsible for more than 300 RDD&D projects with a total Federal cost share of over $1.5 billion.  Prior to joining EERE, Kevin was the manager of the National Renewable Energy Laboratory’s Biopower Program and Deputy Manager of the NREL Biofuels Program.  Early in his career, Kevin was part of the team responsible for acceptance testing and development of the ASPEN process simulation software package and applying it to first-of-a-kind analyses of coal and biomass gasification power systems.  He was also the manager of contracted ASPEN simulation projects at Simulation Sciences Inc. (now InvenSys) where he developed novel approaches for using process simulation in process control among other major projects.

Kevin completed a B.S. degree and graduate study in Chemical Engineering at West Virginia University focusing on fluidization, reactor design and catalytic gasification.  He has co-authored a book chapter on the application of biomass for industrial heat and power as well as numerous papers on biomass utilization.
