Project Objective

The U.S.-China Clean Energy Research Center (CERC) is a pioneering research and development (R&D) consortium bringing together governments, key policymakers, researchers, and industry to develop a long-term platform for sustainable U.S.-China joint R&D. CERC has two projects that are advancing cool roofs. This project aims to decrease roof soiling on white cool roof coatings, which causes a loss of optical reflectivity. LBNL and ORNL are collaborating with Dow Chemical to demonstrate that superhydrophobic powders can be added as anti-soiling agents to the roof coatings.
