PROJECT OBJECTIVE

Advanced Commercial Building Initiative (ACBI) builds on the success of four local and southeast regional energy efficiency deployment programs for small commercial buildings. The project overcomes historic market barriers to energy efficiency by developing simple, affordable energy assessment protocols; data collection, analysis and feedback systems; educational materials; financing options; and outreach approaches. ACBI also examines the risk reduction potential offered by innovative third-party verification for energy assessments and implementation.

PROJECT IMPACT

The Advanced Commercial Building Initiative will enable Southface and its partners to develop research-driven protocols for:

  • building type specific solution packages for both existing buildings and new construction that meet the energy reduction targets;
  • data collection, analysis and feedback to facility staff, building owners and energy efficiency program managers;
  • education and training for building owners, facility staff, code officials, practitioners and others; and
  • innovative approaches to overcome market barriers for financing and program delivery.
