Case study of a DOE Zero Energy Ready affordable home in Charlestown, RI, that achieved a HERS Index of 47 without PV. The 2,244-ft² two-story home with basement has 2x6 walls filled with 5.5 in. (R-23) 2-lb open-cell spray foam, R-12 closed-cell spray foam under the slab, and R-15 open-cell spray foam on the underside of the roof; a minisplit heat pump with 4 indoor air handlers; a heat pump water heater; and triple-pane windows.
