Partner: Fantech – Lenexa, KS
DOE Total Funding: $150,000
Project Term: July 1, 2016 – March 31, 2017
Funding Type: Small Business Innovation Research Phase I

Project Objective

Radon fans are used to evacuate radon from homes affected by this toxin. Currently, radon fan systems are inefficient, yet always on, providing an opportunity for significant energy reduction through improved design. Mechanical Solutions Inc., in collaboration with leading radon fan manufacturer Fantech, will dramatically increase the efficiency of the fan system using state-of-the-art modeling tools and applying decades of experience in fan design.

Project Impact

Mechanical Solutions Inc. projects a threefold increase in efficiency, significantly reducing the energy required to run a radon mitigation system. Not only will this conserve energy, but it will make this life-saving technology more affordable to operate.
