Appliance and Equipment Standards Fact Sheet

Appliance and equipment efficiency standards have served as one of the nation's most effective policies for improving energy efficiency and saving consumers energy and money. Today, the U.S. Department of Energy's (DOE) Appliance and Equipment Standards Program covers more than 50 products, representing about 90% of home energy use, 60% of commercial building energy use, and 29% of industrial energy use. This fact sheet shows how these standards are meeting the President's Climate Action Plan, saving consumers money and lowering the nation's energy use.
