The links below provide useful information on the U.S. Department of Energy Bioenergy Technologies Office's (BETO’s) Conversion Program.

  • Separations Consortium (BioESep) – BioESep is a consortium of eight U.S. Department of Energy national laboratories leading coordinated research to develop cost-effective, high-performing separations technologies that target industrially-relevant process or product separation challenges.
  • Chemical Catalysis for Bioenergy Consortium (ChemCatBio) – ChemCatBio is a research consortium dedicated to identifying and overcoming catalysis challenges for biomass-conversion processes. This work will help accelerate the discovery of novel, robust, and selective catalyst materials building on the model of the Energy Materials Network and the Materials Genome Initiative.
  • Agile BioFoundry – The Agile BioFoundry is a multi-lab consortium working to accelerate and streamline the entire biomanufacturing pipeline by uniting computer-assisted biological pathway design, organism modification, pathway testing, and machine learning.
  • Feedstock-Conversion Interface Consortium (FCIC) – The Feedstock-Conversion Interface Consortium (FCIC) is an integrated and collaborative network of eight national laboratories dedicated to addressing technical risks and understanding how biomass properties influence collection, storage, handling, preprocessing, and conversion technologies with the goal of improving the overall operational reliability of integrated pioneer biorefineries.
  • Consortium for Computational Physics and Chemistry (CCPC) – The CCPC is a collaborative activity among five national laboratories to advance the state of the art of computer modeling of fundamental physical and chemical processes in the context of thermal biomass reactors. The CCPC partners with experimentalists and modelers across the BETO portfolio with advanced computational modeling and simulation capabilities.
