Guide to Developing Air-Cooled Lithium Bromide (LiBr) Absorption for CHP Applications, April 2005

The objective of this paper is to summarize the development status of air-cooled lithium bromide (LiBr)-water absorption chillers to guide future efforts to develop chillers for combined heat and power (CHP) applications in light-commercial buildings. The key technical barrier to air-cooled operation is the increased tendency for LiBr solutions to crystallize in the absorber when heat-rejection temperatures rise.
