The 70th annual Hannover Messe, the world’s largest industrial fair, kicked off this week in Germany. Hannover Messe is one of the largest conferences in the world and drives conversation about innovation and issues affecting industry worldwide. The United States is the official Partner Country joining Germany to host the event this year, and we’re excited that the Department of Energy’s (DOE) Advanced Manufacturing Office (AMO) is getting in on the action.

On Tuesday, April 26, AMO Director Mark Johnson will join Hannover Messe’s Tech Transfer – Gateway2Innovation forum to give a lecture and discussion on clean energy manufacturing innovations and the role of DOE sponsored facilities in the National Network for Manufacturing Innovation. During this lecture, he will talk about the National Network for Manufacturing Innovation (NNMI), a group of institutes that brings together industry, academia and federal partners to increase U.S. manufacturing competitiveness, by promoting a robust and sustainable manufacturing R&D infrastructure. AMO supports a number of NNMI institutes, including America Makes, PowerAmerica, and the Institute for Advanced Composites Manufacturing Innovation (IACMI). AMO’s institutes and the other NNMI institutes will be represented at a booth during Hannover Messe to showcase American manufacturing innovation and engage with industry leaders. Attendees can find the NNMI booth in Exhibition Stand Hall 2, Stand B60 within the Research and Technology Pavilion.

Stay tuned for more AMO news from Hannover Messe this week, including a recap of Mark Johnson’s lecture.
