Chain Reaction Innovations Opens the Call for its First Startup Cohort

Argonne National Laboratory has opened a new innovation incubator called Chain Reaction Innovations (CRI), which is a new two-year program for innovators focused on energy and science technologies. CRI will give teams of innovators a runway to develop and scale their technologies while being supported through fellowship funding that covers salary, benefits, and use of laboratory equipment and office space. Through a partnership with mentor organizations, CRI participants will get assistance developing business strategies, conducting market research, and finding long-term financing and potential commercial partners.

Sustainability Manufacturing Workshop Summary Report – Now Live

AMO held a workshop on Sustainable Manufacturing to gather input from stakeholders on future opportunities and technical challenges facing development and scale-up of transformative technologies, processes, and equipment for sustainable manufacturing. The intent was to define critical crosscutting barriers that, if successfully addressed, could enable step change impacts beyond the current state of the art.

The Office of Energy Efficiency and Renewable Energy (EERE) announces, on behalf of the Advanced Manufacturing Office (AMO), a Funding Opportunity Announcement (FOA) entitled “Clean Energy Manufacturing Innovation Institute for Reducing EMbodied-energy And Decreasing Emissions (REMADE) in Materials Manufacturing”. Concept papers are due July 28, 2016.

Full application submissions for the Modular Chemical Process Intensification Institute for Clean Energy Manufacturing funding opportunity are due on August 17 at 5:00 PM EST.

With approximately $70 million in funding, this public-private partnership will be the fourth Energy Department sponsored facility as part of the National Network of Manufacturing Innovation Institutes and presents significant opportunities to advance technologies to improve energy productivity, increase energy efficiency, and reduce greenhouse gas emissions in energy-related manufacturing industries. The estimated period of performance for the award will be approximately 5 years.

AMO to Take Part in 19th Annual Congressional Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency Expo + Forum

On July 12, AMO participated in the 19th Annual Congressional Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency Expo co-hosted by the House Renewable Energy & Energy Efficiency Caucus and the Senate Renewable Energy & Energy Efficiency Caucus. Representatives from various businesses, trade associations, and government agencies came together to showcase clean energy technologies and discussed the significant impact they have in business development and job creation in the manufacturing, transmission, power, transportation, and building sectors.

The Department of Energy’s Office of Energy Efficiency and Renewable Energy (EERE) had a booth that showcased a diverse portfolio of programs and technologies of which two Advanced Manufacturing Office (AMO) programs, Better Plants and the Institute for Advanced Composites Manufacturing Innovation (IACMI), were highlighted.
