Concept papers for the Modular Chemical Process Intensification Institute for Clean Energy Manufacturing funding opportunity are due on June 15.

With approximately $70 million in funding, this public-private partnership will be the fourth Energy Department sponsored facility as part of the National Network of Manufacturing Innovation Institutes and presents significant opportunities to advance technologies to improve energy productivity, increase energy efficiency, and reduce greenhouse gas emissions in energy-related manufacturing industries. The estimated period of performance for the award will be approximately 5 years.

Advanced Manufacturing Office’s Peer Review - June 14-15

The Advanced Manufacturing Office Peer Review will be spanning across two days, June 14-15, at the Key Bridge Marriott in Arlington, VA. The event will bring together leading technology experts from the industrial, academic, and government sectors to provide their view on the effectiveness and impact of AMO’s Research and Development Projects, Research and Development Facilities and Analysis.

AMO Achievements Exhibited for World Energy Leaders at CEM7

On June 1-2, 2016 U.S. Energy Secretary Ernest Moniz hosted energy leaders from 23 countries and the European Union at the seventh Clean Energy Ministerial (CEM7) in San Francisco, California. Two projects sponsored by the Advanced Manufacturing Office (AMO) were displayed in the Startups and Solutions Technology Showcase – an exhibition of companies and organizations from around the globe leading the world’s transition to a clean energy future. Both Cyclotron Road and the 3-D printed Shelby Cobra show tangible results of AMO’s support of clean energy research and development.

IACs Recognized at Capitol Hill Event

The Industrial Assessment Center (IAC) program, which is sponsored by the Advanced Manufacturing Office (AMO), was recognized on Capitol Hill on Tuesday, June 7. This recognition followed a Senate resolution that unanimously passed earlier this year designating the week of April 24, 2016 as “National Industrial Assessment Center Week”. The Honorable Jeanne Shaheen, US Senator for New Hampshire (D) was instrumental in helping to pass the resolution. In all, 15 of her colleagues co-sponsored the resolution.

AMO's Dr. David Forrest Spoke at Awesome Con– June 5

On June 5th, at the Walter E. Washington Convention Center in Washington D.C., AMO’s Dr. David Forrest participated in a panel discussion for Awesome Con- the biggest annual comic and pop culture convention, a "comic-con that embraces all aspects of geekdom and pop culture.” He discussed the interplay between science and cinema, and how some of these larger-than-life technologies are becoming a reality through Energy Department-supported research.

Energy Management Campaign Launches at Seventh Clean Energy Ministerial

An international assembly of high-level clean energy leaders attending the 7th Clean Energy Ministerial launched the Energy Management Campaign, a new, high-level international effort to promote ISO 50001, the global energy management system standard, with the support of the Superior Energy Performance®. The Energy Management Campaign is a call to action—urging governments, business, industry, and other key partners to use the ISO 50001 standard as a transparent mechanism to demonstrate progress towards climate and energy goals. The Campaign aims to achieve 50,001 global certifications to ISO 50001 by 2020.
