Advanced Manufacturing Office Director, Mark Johnson and other DOE Leaders Engage Students During EERE Day at MIT

The Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) held a university event encouraging MIT students and faculty to learn about energy issues aligned with the Department of Energy’s Energy Efficiency and Renewable Energy (EERE) Office’s mission and research. The event entitled “EERE Day at MIT” featured a keynote presentation by Dr. David Danielson and panel discussions with Advanced Manufacturing Office Director, Dr. Mark Johnson as well as other DOE leaders. Dr. Johnson touched on the topics of clean energy and manufacturing while stressing the importance of cross-cutting initiatives and technologies to achieve the maximum impact for U.S. taxpayers.

The Cyclotron Road Applied Research Experience Program is Now Accepting Applications

The Cyclotron Road program sponsored by the Department of Energy’s Advanced Manufacturing Office, is now accepting applications for the Cyclotron Road Applied Research Experience Program until all positions are filled. The program provides an opportunity for pre-doctoral scientists and engineers to put their education to use in support of an impact-driven R&D project. Applicants should contact the project leads for specific project opportunities. Submitted applications will undergo review beginning April 18th and accepted participants are expected to begin their appointments in early June at the Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory in Berkeley, CA.

WEBINAR: Low Cost Carbon Fiber Process Solicitation – April 7th, 2016

Oak Ridge National Laboratory (ORNL) will be hosting a webinar for the AMO supported Low Cost Carbon Fiber Process Solicitation. ORNL is seeking commercialization partners to license a new method to produce industrial-grade structural carbon fiber and flame-retardant fibers from commercially-available low-cost textile-grade acrylic fiber precursor materials. The webinar will be held on April 7th at 11AM to 12PM EDT and will review the technology and the license application process. Participants are required to register to attend this webinar.

The Energy Department's Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory will be hosting an informational webinar on the High Performance Computing for Manufacturing (HPC4Mfg) spring solicitation on April 5th at 2PM EDT. This webinar will provide an opportunity to learn more about the AMO sponsored program and current solicitation, as well as provide an opportunity to ask questions to assist in the development of the concept papers.
