Notice of Intent To Issue A Funding Opportunity For Next Generation Of Electric Machines

The Office of Energy Efficiency and Renewable Energy (EERE) intends to issue, on behalf of the Advanced Manufacturing Office (AMO), a Funding Opportunity Announcement (FOA) entitled “Next Generation of Electric Machines: Enabling Technologies.” With a funding amount of $25 million, this FOA targets the development of key technologies that will enable further efficiency enhancements and weight reductions in a cost effective way while addressing the limitations of traditionally used conductive metals and electrical steels.

2016 Better Buildings Summit in Washington D.C.

The Department of Energy (DOE) will host the 2016 Better Buildings Summit in Washington D.C. on May 9-11, 2016. The event will build on last year’s summit and feature technical content targeted specifically for U.S. manufacturers. A question and answer session will be led by AMO’s Director, Dr. Mark Johnson and Better Plants partners on market and energy trends.

Newly Released Energy Materials Network (EMN) Initiative Receives $40 Million in Funding

The U.S. Department of Energy’s (DOE) newly launched Energy Materials Network (EMN) is a National Laboratory-led initiative that focuses on addressing major barriers to the commercialization of clean energy technologies. With more than $40 million in funding, DOE plans to create a network of research and development consortia which focuses on materials needed for clean-energy manufacturing.

Energy Management Leaders Qualify for New Global Awards Program

The U.S. Department of Energy will be participating in a new international awards program that acknowledges organizations that use an ISO 50001-certified energy management system. This system ultimately saves energy and reduces costs. Three organizations will be chosen to win the CEM Award of Excellence for Energy Management and will be recognized at the Clean Energy Ministerial (CEM7) meeting in San Francisco, CA in June. The submission deadline in March 15, 2016.
