Since its inception, Superior Energy Performance (SEP) program accreditation has been jointly managed by both the American National Standards Institute (ANSI) and the ANSI-ASQ National Accreditation Board (ANAB). ANSI and ANAB recently announced that the organizations will transition the management of program accreditation solely under ANAB, resulting in increased consolidation and efficiency. DOE’s Advanced Manufacturing Office will continue to act as the SEP Program Administrator. Parties involved in the SEP certification process should not be affected by the transition process, which is expected to take place over the first part of 2016. SEP Verification Bodies will still be accredited using the ANSI/MSE 50028 standard and facilities will follow the same process to become SEP certified under the ANSI/MSE 50021 standard.

ANAB will release updates as they are available on its “Heads Up” publication page. View the original announcement from ANAB by visiting http://anab.org/media/59168/hu326.pdf.
