SlideRule and Government Learning Videos (offered by HUD) are now available on the DVU Learning Channel. SlideRule offers free college-level courses from universities around the world available from several online providers. The Government Learning Videos links to the HUD YouTube channel where several videos relating to leadership development are available. And, as always, you can also find links to Coursera, Class Central and the Online Learning Center on the DVU Learning Channel.
The Office of Learning and Workforce Development conducted their first Supervisors’ Community of Practice on July 29, 2014. The Community of Practice is a group of people who are bound together by shared interest and purpose. The participants shared a real desire to exchange tips, share knowledge and collaborate with one another to address their organizational needs.
Please join us in celebrating the first birthday of the DOE Virtual University! In the past year, seven colleges have been stood up, numerous web pages have been created and a desktop icon has been developed and implemented. To date, the DVU has had over 57,000 page views and has the most current and relevant information relating to several training programs.
The Knowledge Capture and Transfer Program (KCTP) has a new logo and a newly created Powerpedia page. The page layout and program descriptions allow for quicker searches and easier access to information. The Powerpedia page will be managed and kept updated with new information from each program area on a consistent basis. This Powerpedia page will be a place that all DOE employees will be able to go and retrieve information about the various programs within the KCTP.
