MLK Day/Black History Month DOE Celebration

January 20, 2014, marked the celebration of Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King’s 85th birthday and commemorated the 28th anniversary of the national holiday established in his honor.  The 2014 theme for Black History Month is “Civil Rights in America,” and Dr. King was a champion of the civil rights of all people.  Join us as the Department honors both Dr. King and Black History Month with a dialogue on the history of civil rights for all.  Secretary Ernest Moniz will open our program. 

The keynote speaker, Donna Brazile, is an author; syndicated columnist; and television commentator. She has a passion for encouraging people to engage in public service and to, work within the system to strengthen it.
