Cyber and IT/OT Executive Council

The CIO is a member of the Cyber and IT/OT Executive Council. The Cyber and IT/OT Executive Council, chaired by the Deputy Secretary, is the principal forum for collaboration of cybersecurity, information management strategies, and policies across the Department, and for consideration of cybersecurity related issues requiring decision by the Council Chair.

Information Management Governance Board (IMGB)

The CIO chairs the IMGB. The IMGB, within the governance framework approved by the Cyber and IT/OT Executive Council, serves as the principal forum for collaboration of cybersecurity, information management strategies, and policies across the Department.

Energy System Acquisition Advisory Board (ESAAB)

The CIO participates as a member of the ESAAB, as it relates to projects that contain IT. The ESAAB's purpose is to assist in the decision-making process on critical decision milestones, baseline change proposals, and site selections for Major System Projects.

Lab Planning and Appraisal Process

As part of the lab planning process, each lab presents its plans to Office of Science management at Headquarters. These yearly reviews of each lab are focused on work in their current core competencies and an overview of their planned activities including an estimate of resources needed to support new and existing activities. Participation will be expanded to include the appropriate

CIO.

Laboratory Operating Board (LOB)

The LOB strengthens and enhances the partnership between the DOE and its 17 National Laboratories. The LOB is chaired by the Deputy Under Secretary for Science (S-4), and its membership includes senior Federal and National Laboratory leadership. The LOB undertakes such studies and activities as its membership proposes and agrees, operating by consensus, and/or as requested by the Secretary.

Departmental Investment Review Boards (IRBs)

OCIO manages DOE's IT Portfolio, maximizing the CIO's visibility into the Department's IT spending. The CIO reviews and approves IT investments in our FITARA review process. Additionally, the DOE CIO provides investment oversight and leadership through Cyber and Information Technology (IT)/Operational Technology (OT) Executive Council governance processes. Specifically, the CIO chairs the Information Management Governance Board (IMGB) and co-chairs with the Deputy Secretary, the Cyber and IT/OT Executive Council. The IMGB meets bi-monthly, and the Cyber and IT/OT Executive Council

meets quarterly.

Enterprise Architecture Governance Board (EAGB)/Architecture Review Board (ARB)

The Enterprise Architecture Governance Board (EAGB) and Architecture Review Board (ARB), within the governance framework approved by the Cyber and IT/OT Executive Council, serves as the stewards for definition and communication of enterprise architecture, architecture strategies, architectural decisions, and policies and standards across the Department.

DOE Data Governance Board (DGB)

The Chief Data Officer establishes the DOE Data Governance Board to be leveraged as champions for promoting mission-value, government-wide best practices for the use, protection, dissemination, and generation of data and data sharing agreements among agencies.
