WASHINGTON – Building on President Obama’s Climate Action Plan and the Administration’s commitment to steady, responsible steps that reduce carbon pollution and support an all-of-the-above energy strategy, Energy Secretary Ernest Moniz will dedicate a new clean energy research facility and supercomputer at the National Renewable Energy Laboratory (NREL) in Golden, Colorado. Secretary Moniz will also discuss dramatic reductions in the cost of clean and renewable energy technology as well as growing deployment over the last few years.

On Wednesday, September 11, Energy Secretary Moniz will meet with lab officials and industry executives from the electric power and clean energy sectors. The meeting will be followed by an open press tour and dedication of the new Energy Systems Integration Facility (ESIF).

ESIF is the nation’s first research facility to help both public and private sector researchers scale-up promising clean energy technologies – from solar modules and wind turbines to electric vehicles and efficient, interactive home appliances – and test how they interact with each other and the grid at utility-scale.
