In the video above, the Energy Department's digital team promotes National Energy Action Month by carving some energy pumpkins. | Video by Matty Greene, Energy Department.

To commemorate National Energy Action Month, we’re featuring some scarily effective ways to save energy at home. As cooler weather lurks around the corner, tune in to energy.gov throughout the month of October for ways to save energy and money -- and avoid cold weather terrors like energy vampires. We also put together some energy-themed pumpkin patterns to help “energize” your neighborhood for Halloween. Send us photos of your energy-themed jack-o-lanterns via TwitterInstagramFacebook or email at newmedia@hq.doe.gov and we'll share our favorites during the week of Halloween.

Last week, we shared some energy-themed pumpkin carving stencils to help you “energize” your neighborhood -- and teach trick-or-treaters about energy -- this Halloween. On our own time after work, we put the patterns to the test and carved some energy pumpkins of our own.

In the video above, see a CFL, solar panels, an atom and a wind turbine come to life in spooky, candlelit time-lapse -- plus a couple of bonus energy pumpkins we designed on the fly.

It’s not too late to carve your own energy pumpkins! Download our patterns, or get creative and design your own.

Show off your Energyween spirit by posting photos of your energy pumpkins on Twitter, Instagram, Facebook or by email to newmedia@hq.doe.gov. We’ll share our favorites throughout the week.

Happy Energyween!
