TODAY: Senior Obama Administration Officials to Discuss Progress of Recovery Act Battery and Electric Drive Grants
WASHINGTON - Today, Thursday, May 13, at 3:00 PM EDT, Chief Economist to the Vice President Jared Bernstein, Senior Advisor to the U.S. Secretary of Energy Matt Rogers, and Director of Recovery for Automotive Communities and Workers Ed Montgomery will hold a press conference call to discuss progress of the $2.4 billion in Recovery Act advanced battery and electric drive grants announced last year. The call comes as Navistar, Inc. is scheduled to ship the first electric vehicle manufactured as a result of those grants. The new Navistar electric delivery truck was built at the company's Wakarusa, Indiana, factory and is powered by an advanced battery manufactured in Michigan by another Recovery Act recipient, A123 Systems.
