SLIDESHOW: America's Wind Testing Facilities

July 17, 2012 - 4:51pm

Today, the Energy Department joined Sandia National Laboratories and Texas Tech University to break ground on the Scaled Wind Farm Technology (SWIFT) facility in Lubbock, Texas.

The first-of-its kind facility will help turbine designers and manufacturers drive down the cost of wind energy by reducing the aerodynamic losses of wind energy plants, enhancing energy capture, and mitigating turbine damage.

View the slideshow above for images from SWIFT and other wind testing facilities across America that work to speed the adoption of innovative, next generation technologies into the marketplace.
