WASHINGTON – On Tuesday, May 15, 2012, U.S. Energy Secretary Steven Chu, Phoenix Mayor Greg Stanton, CEO of National Bank of Arizona Keith Maio, and Managing Director of National Bank of Arizona and Zion Energy Link Craig Robb will re-launch the nation’s largest city-sponsored residential solar financing program. This will be the second phase of the Solar Phoenix program, made possible thanks to a $25 million commitment from National Bank of Arizona.
Secretary Chu will recognize Arizona’s leadership in the global race for clean energy technologies and highlight how innovative programs, like Solar Phoenix, are helping more Americans access affordable clean, renewable energy while strengthening our domestic solar industry.
The original Solar Phoenix program, which was only available to Phoenix residents, was announced in November 2009 and ran throughout 2010. In one year, the program provided over 400 residential customers with a solar energy solution, generated approximately 2.8 MW of power and invested over $26 million into the community.
