February 2, 2011 - 11:23am

Iowa State University’s vision is to lead the world in advancing the land-grant ideas of putting science, technology and human creativity to work. Its mission is to create, share and apply knowledge to make Iowa and the world a better place. This month, ISU is being featured on .EDUconnections, a site hosted by Office of Science and Technical Information that spotlights colleges and universities supported by the Department of Energy and highlights their achievements, researchers and students.

Iowa State is widely recognized for its comprehensive and interdisciplinary research programs, and as a school that provides a top quality education to its students. Iowa State is an invaluable resource for Iowa, the nation and the world. Research at Iowa State that could change the world is occurring in such disciplines as environmental sustainability, renewable energies, materials research, transportation and infrastructure, food safety and security, plant and animal sciences and information sciences.

The university's comprehensive research program is how Iowa State is putting science and technology to work. A unique partnership with Ames Laboratory is also proving beneficial and productive, and researchers at the university and laboratory, as well as students are able to benefit from each other’s expertise.
