DOE National Science Bowl Kicks Off Tomorrow, April 27

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Friday, April 27, through Monday, April 30, 113 regional high school and middle school championship teams from 42 states, the District of Columbia, Puerto Rico and the U.S. Virgin Islands will compete in the 22nd annual U.S. Department of Energy National Science Bowl final competition in Washington D.C. The students will be quizzed on all science disciplines, including biology, chemistry, earth science, physics, astronomy, and math.

High school teams will solve hands-on science problems on Friday, April 27, and have their question-and-answer portion of the competition on Sunday, April 29.  The middle school question-and-answer portion of the competition will begin Saturday, April 28, followed by a battery-powered model car race on Sunday. Championship rounds for both middle school and high school teams will be held on Monday, April 30. View the full list of competing teams HERE.

Monday’s championship events, including remarks by Energy Secretary Steven Chu, will be streamed live at www.science.energy.gov/nsb/.
